The week that is about to end will remain in history, and not in a positive way: within a few days four of the most anticipated games of 2020 have been postponed, namely Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Marvel’s Avengers, Marvel’s Iron Man VR and Cyberpunk 2077.
Among these, the CD Projekt RED sci-fi RPG is the one that has undergone the most substantial delay, corresponding to 5 months: the release date of Cyberpunk 2077 has in fact been moved from April 16 to September 17, 2020. The news, predictably, was not greeted with enthusiasm by the players, therefore after the announcement, some members of the Polish software house have well thought of intervening on social networks to calm the hearts.
Łukasz Babel, Quality Assurance Lead, first of all, invited not to worry, promising that the new release date will be respected. Miles Tost, who instead holds the role of Senior Level Designer, has instead ensured that it will be worth waiting for all this extra time, which will be used by the development team to create the perfect game. “Hey, sorry to disappoint you, but it will definitely be worth it in the end. Thanks for your continued support,” he wrote on Twitter.
Meanwhile, the stock exchange did not welcome the news: the postponement of Cyberpunk 2077 caused a collapse of the shares of CD Projekt RED. For his part, CEO Adam Kicinski does not rule out crunch time and overtime for his employees, who are called to work intensively until the new launch date.
